We are new to looking after poultry and are finding it a bit of a steep learning curve due to more than a little bad luck,I live in Stockton-On-Tees and are hoping to gain advice from people who have years of experience....Brian.

Hi Brian, welcome to the Forum. Glad you found us! Have also noticed the link at the bottom of each page on here, to the Poultrykeeper main website, see https://poultrykeeper.com/ lots of info and ideas on there, - and lots of people on here happy to help as well.
Sorry to hear you've had a bit of a rocky start to poultry keeping. How many hens do you have? Maybe you would like to post about them in the Chickens section.

We have three Silkie hens and the little cockerel who was supposed to be female but as they were only twelve weeks old when we purchased then I guess it was always going to be a risk. The chap at Durham Hens said he was 95% sure we had three hens including the Goldtop who was the mother figure in the little group and very unlucky to fall ill.The two black Silkies we acquired last week were from Michael at North East Poultry who has a huge selection of rare breeds and is so enthusiastic taking us on a tour of his complete set up.He also contacts Hayley every day asking how they are doing which is good as it shows he is not just selling birds and not caring if things go wrong. He works on his parents sheep farm and the poultry is his own project and career.
