Hedgehog quail

Hi all

Just wondered if anyone could tell me why one of my quail fluffs all its feathers up and looks just like a hedgehog,it has been doing it for about two days now.

She is eating and drinking and dashes in for the mealworms but does not look as happy as the others.

Hi Lydia

I wondered about that, on an evening I put a heat lamp on and she always goes and sits under it.

Their home is a shed that has been insulated ( my husband calls it quail hotel and says he`s going to move in it`s so good).

I have been leaving the door top open when the day is mild but maybe it is just a bit too cold yet I won`t open the door tomorrow and I will let you know how she is .

On a lighter note the shop I supply with eggs sold all six doz. in the first week, needless to say I was quick to replenish their shelves, I was absolutly delighted and so was to manager.

hi Heather,yes it probably is still a bit cold for them.See what happens with the door fully closed.
