Hi guys new to the board.... My dad has a farm (not a commercial farm) which we have chickens, pigs and horses. Unfortunately our cockerel never returned back after they were out. Me and my oldish daughter have agreed to try and hatch some chicks ourself to increase the stock and maybe breed a new a cockerel. I have purchased a Brinsea starter kits which arrived last week and is all up and running and working well. As I have no fertilized eggs I was wondering if anyone new anywhere i could find some in Yorkshire. Were not fussed about which hens we get as we our new to this. I do love silkies though?? We currently have 4 Rhode island reds at the farm who are not laying very well. I hope to be visiting this forum lots as you all seem to be very knowledgeable in regards to chickens.

Hi and welcome to the forum :)
If you can't find anyone local, you could always try ebay etc- eggs travel well in the post normally- just a thought-
regards,David :)

thanks you!!! I have been checking out the ebay buyers good and bad!!!

In the back of the 'Poultry' magazine there is a section for buying birds and hatching eggs which is split into counties - you will find breeders in yorkshire in there :)

Hi Liz I am new to this too and hatched some eggs which I got from ebay from a good site BUT they came in the post and while they where well wrapped I know there can be issues about egg sacks bursting in the post etc. Of my 2 attempts my first gave me 3 out of 6 and my last only 2 from 6.
So like you I thought I'd find a local seller, I am in Yorkshire and found the nearest egg supplier via ebay.
So I searched for hatching eggs, then filtered the search by nearest first option.Found a supplier 4 miles away and went to see him. He candled the eggs with me and has also given me lots of advice.
So it depends where you are in Yorkshire but the principal is the same.
Good luck David
