Does anyone know if the size of an egg effects 'hatchability'?

I have two young exchequer hens which I hope to bred from this spring. They are both laying what I'd call a large pullets egg. This is slightly smaller than my other hens eggs. I'm sure in time their egg size will get bigger, but would these lge pullets eggs be viable for incubation?

Many thanks.

I've never had a problem. So long as they are a decent shape, even if a bit smaller or bigger its been ok. I've hatched some tiny ones and some larger ones from birds where the average is in the middle.

Of course, others may have varying results. End of the day I think it comes down to fertility more than anything.

I'm sure once they settle down you can see what happens in the spring.

Thanks Snifter, think I'll pen them up with the cockerel in a week or two. I just can't wait to get that incubator on!! :D
