Guinea Fowl - hatch rate!

A friend gave me 20 Guinea eggs the other day. Of these 5 candled and two hatched. One died at 3 days. So from 5 down to 1 - I am unimpressed with my hatching/husbandry techniques.

Does anybody else hatch Guinea fowl? Should I have done better? If so any suggestions?
 
guinea fowl are usually very fertile

allow a little more moisture at hatching to help with the thick shells and remenber they take a few more days than banty eggs

feed new borns on pheasant crumbs or turkey crumbs to help against game bird illnesses
 
We wanted guinea fowl to help keep the ticks at bay. A friend got us 6 eggs at a show, we started them off in a mini incubator then transferred to a broody hen a week before they were due to hatch, all 6 hatched (we were amazed as this was our first attempt at hatching anything), sadly 1 got taken by a buzzard and 1 by a cat as soon as they were let out. The other 4 still going strong. The hen was a fab mother until last week when she started laying again. Another chicken has now taken over the parenting!
 
Hi ,my friend gieve me 10 eggs and have been flown on the plane here.1 had broken shell so I had to discard that straitaway,the others are fertile went to incubator,after 10 days I had to remove next 4 as they stop developing.after next 7 days I candled again and now I have 2 eggs left in the bator.Hatching time is on Monday so I hope that those 2 will hatch.it's an experiment for me if they can hatch after being on the plane.My friend who breeds them have 70%hatch rate with them.There is a lot of thing which can affect hatch rate and if yours kite who died after 3 days-well maybe the eggs where from poor breeding stock or you just had a bad luck.
 
I bought 24 eggs from ebay. 1 was infertile when candled initially after a few days. I have 3 that have stopped growing and the rest are due out hopefully beginning of Aug. So that makes 20 good...

i incubated 14 eggs and 12 hatched howecer 2 died later on
i incubated them at 37.5 degrees not touching the temperature during the incubation for 27days however they were coming 2-3 days earlier.
such a shame you had a poor hatch rate.
it could of been to poor cockbird, poor fertility or even if the female or male isnt 100%healthy

I eventually had 17 hatch but had a nightmare time for the first month and lost all but 5. These are doing well, but brooding guinea fowl almost broke my heart!
 
i had a tray i think that 30 cant remeber had hard time canderling 12 hatched then lost fue then fox attack.i ended up with 6 only kept 1 as she was injered in fox attack. shes quite tame and sleeps in with molly and the ducklings
 
Well, lost another 4- due to predation, but managed to capture one injured lad... so just have one sad lonely boy...named Obi1...what a horrible experience. Not sure what to do now, except try and find him some company.
