Maybe some of you will remember the problems I've had with Mr.Fox over the last couple of years.I've built a large new run, about 30ft. x 8ft. and completely roofed it[mostly with wire] and so far this has been a great success. However I know the fox still comes into my garden, snow is great for tracking isn't it.Any way,up at 6 the other morning and as usual let dogs out for their pee.All of a sudden G.S.D. took off, cleared a 4ft. fence[impressed as she's no spring chicken]followed by Rottie who's not built for jumping,so she went head down through the fence followed by Jack Russell who went through newly made hole.Apparently fox had been behind the shed,so I hadn't seen him,but he wasn't quite quick enough getting over the high fence to get out.He did escape but not without getting a rather nasty bite from GSD,don't know if the others managed a bite or not.I know it's illegal[rightly I believe]to hunt foxes with dogs, but I really didn't know he was there, and he was in my garden,so not sure what the law would make of it.What I do know is,3 weeks now and not a sign or scent of foxy. Also the girls seem to have gone into overdrive re. laying.Time of year I know, but it's great.Hole in low fence now fixed by the way,it's only temporary to allow newly seeded wildflower garden to establish itself, dogs normally take the hint and respect the boundary.

Well done! If it hadn't been for your new run, and your dogs, you'd have lost them all again I expect. Great to hear how the dogs dealt with him, and that he seems to have kept away the last 3 weeks. I don't see how anyone would worry about your dogs hunting the fox, you hadn't set them on the fox deliberately or killed him, as far as you know. I'm glad the girls are showing their gratitude in the appropriate way.

In this situation all the dogs did is scare of a fox the same way a fox would scare off another fox. I'm against blood sports, thiswas not that :)

Thanks for replies, wasn't particularly worried about prosecution but didn't want to appear bloodthirsty either.Must admit I'm rather proud of my dogs though, bones from the butchers all round that day.
