Dear Snow,

It's not me, it's you. I've never much liked you. I don't like your cold attitude. I don't like how you just intrude on every aspect of my life. I don't like how you make my chickens miserable (even though they are under cover). And I don't like how you sit there looking all virginal and innocent, and wait until someone goes out to walk to where they need to go, thinking that would be safer than driving, then bam! you've got them in the hospital with broken limbs before they know what's happened! 22 people in our local hospital A&E with "orthopaedic trauma injuries" due to falls in the snow/ice a couple of weeks ago. And here you are, back again. And here we are again, trying to keep animals' water from freezing. Trying to keep them warm and dry.

So, just go away. It's Spring. Eggs, and baby bunnies, and daffodils, and primroses. Lawnmowers and seeds! You have outstayed your welcome. It's time to leave.

Visitors who outstay their welcome, huh. Just come in from cleaning out the hens. Wall to wall sunshine, not a breath of wind. Shovelled in a tee shirt. Thrown open both a normal window and a Velux to lower the temperature.
It's a topsyturvy world.

Could do with some of that here Hen-Gen instead of 6 inches of snow and a cold wind!

Indeed. Was just saying to someone, this is how historically, famine was a fairly common thing, before shipping of food was so easy. Spring being so late coming, then the ground is so saturated it can't be ploughed or seed sown until it dries out (and after the snow, there's rain forecast for later this week.). And our growing season is short enough as it is. I'd say harvests will be scarce enough this year. Long ago, one or two years of this, and you'd have a famine.

Today we encountered snow in Paris :shock: I must admit to being charmed, but probably because I haven't had to battle it this year, its obviously been terrible in UK and Ireland. In Portugal we are encountering our third week of wet which is desparately needed as the previous 11 months have been drier than average. I can add the word 'waterlogged' to my list of things I never thought I would see over here.
