I have a good Pekin broody that I have been slipping chicks to over 7 days. It is now day 8. Would it be risky to try adding one more? The 7 day old is a tiny bantam, this one the same breed and colour as the large fowl chicks recently added.

We have found that a 'flock' is created by day 7 so the addition of another chick may not work. So the answer to you question is yes, it would be risky. Having said that if the mother accepts it she may sort out the dispute?

Thanks Chris for your good advice, it seems to be all fine. I wouldn't have tried if the last chick didn't seem exceptionally robust, and the other chicks are placid breeds.
