Geese and breed advice please

Hi everyone

In addition to my previous posts looking for Indian Runners, I am also looking for advice to what would be the ideal breed of goose for us

There would be around half an acre (small grassed orchard), no children, no evidence of foxes as very active border collie and alpacas, not certain whether to keep just for pets or breed for the table.

Hi Steve,

In looking for a breed of goose, I am only real familiar with one, but determining your purpose for having geese will be helpful in selecting a breed. Eggs? goslings? lawn mowing? dandelion control? extra alarm? those things may help determine on which breeds to focus your search. Also, does your town have restrictions on geese?

I have raised emden (pure white with no bump on bill) since childhood. They can be great pets if worked with starting as day old goslings. The more you put into them, typically the better pet they are. This particular type does not seem to migrate, and we never clipped wings. I would be happy to share more on them if you wish.
