hey guys.....been reading about good/bad foods for chickens. i put a couple of garlic bulbs in the birds drinking water as suggested by a friend. but have read a few reviews about garlic being poisonous to birds.

is it ok to carry on putting garlic in their water?

I dont know about water, but you can buy garlic granules from lifeguard so it wont be poisonous. I think its good for breathing, also has some good vitamins and kills worms.

iv been told to bash the garlic and put in the water or plant them near the chicken area (or chives )as wards off nasy red mite and other nasties. im pretty sure not bad for them and any thing that stops my chooks getting mites id try

Garlic is widely used so won't do them any harm. Question is, will it do them any good . Should not be relied on as a wormer.

Usually, when the mixed feed to the chickens, add chopped garlic, not only can increase growth and appetite of chicken, but also play a role in the prevention of many diseases.
