Mr Fox has been a bit busy in the neighbourhood and has taken a large goose and gander leaving one gander on it's own. This morning I noticed him being inappropriately friendly with one of my Aylesbury ducks on the pond! I am trying to find him a mate of the correct species but in the meantime ..................... should I be worried? Could I end up with a gock or a dead duck?

Hi Nala, sorry to hear about your problem. with the Fox.

It isn't that uncommon for poultry to try to mate with other species. My Aylesbury drake tries to mate with the hens sometimes.
With your situation I don't think that you are likely to get a crossbreed (I can find nothing to suggest you will) but if the Gander is much larger than the Aylesbury and they mate in the water It is possible he could drown her. But if she is experienced she probably knows how to twist out from under.

He is lonely - it's that time of year.

A ducks vagina is curly and the duck will only relax it and let a penis in when she thinks its right so there is probably nothing happening.
