It hit -8C at the closest weather station last night, mucked out at 2pm today and the poo in the ex batts house was still frozen!.

At least it's easier to pick it up!
I was filling the spare drinker this morning, to exchange for the frozen one in the run, and was using one of those you fill upside down and then turn over. Should have checked the fixing before doing so! 2 litres of water all over the worktop and floor, and also all down my coat and up my sleeves. Unladylike language I'm afraid. Hens were grateful when it finally arrived, though.

We have the same ones and I hate it when that happens, especially if I have ran out of water and have to go back down to the house.

It's arrived in the Midlands now but not as low as -8. Ice on the water bowls this morning thick enough for a chicken to walk on.
