Today one of my hens found a smallish frog and caused much excitement amoungst the girls. She then ate it whole  Other than the obvious "eeeouw!" is it ok or normal for them to eat frogs? I know ducks do but is it ok for chickens? Also what about her swallowing it whole. A couple of weeks ago they found a slug far too big to eat, is she likely to be ok?
The other's were most affronted that she kept it too herself!

I've seen my girls canibalise a mouse and devour it like it was a treat!

They didn't eat it whole but it made me think a little....

I wonder what DEFRA would say to that! (Don't tell them my chooks get Bacon rinds from time to time :D )

Yuk!!! I'll just have to stop watching what they are eating in that case.
Thought it was probably alright because she has strutted about like she is very clever. The others found the ants again, but their hearts weren't in it after she refused to share. :D
Think DEFRA will be checking to see if our frog/mice licenses are up to date
Do you think they could get a taste for my Mother-in-law?
