think i am in love have been checking out lavender pekin fertile eggs and found some frizzle breeds ohhhhhhhhhhhh they are so pretty am tempted :lol:but i really need to get my housing sorted out first and personally i would like kola to go broody as this will be her 3rd year raising chicks but would she be ok hatching of such small eggs or would they be better to go under a bantam .

Is Kola a large, heavy Type of Bird? Larger broodies vary in their ability to care for smaller breed eggs and chicks. Some are remarkably dainty and careful, whilst others stomp around all over the place squashing eggs and chicks alike! To be safe, I would set Bantam eggs under a smaller hen or in an Incubator.
Frizzle feathered birds are curious chickens! and apart from an actual Breed of bird by this name there are several breeds and countless mongrel fowl with Frizzle feathers.
The Frizzle trait is easily bred into any smooth feathered breed as it is a semi dominant feature, so a proportion of Frizzles will hatch if you cross a Smooth feathered bird with a Frizzle feathered one.
If You breed a Frizzle to a Frizzle, theoretically you will produce 50% Frizzles( Heterozygous birds, 'normal frizzles, that carry one copy of the frizzle gene), 25% Smooth feathered and 25% Over-Frizzled birds( Homozygous birds, that have sparse, brittle and ragged feathers and carry two copies of the frizzle gene).
Although Physically sound, these over Frizzled birds are unsightly and as a result, surplus birds are often difficult to re-home. They are also slightly more prone to extremes in the weather due to their sparse plumage, and so for these reasons, many fanciers choose only to breed Smooth Feathered birds to Frizzles. The offspring of this mating usually produces Just Smooth and 'normal' Frizzles in equal numbers.

wow that was some reading thankyou  kola is a very heavy maran but looks after her chicks really well and carefully maybe it might be better to stick to the lavendar pekins then ,if i order tonight or tomorrow and i can get the other house cleaned and put up over the weekend then they can go under one of my bantams whos very broody but this will be her first time .
