Hello all - we have too many drakes to our ducks and the only one we can bear to part with is our cherry valley drake (as we have had the other two drakes since they were tiny). He is free to a good home and I am hoping that by putting him on this site, rather than adtrader etc, he will be given that good home rather than being put in a roasting tin. He is approx 6 months old (got him from a pet shop who had only a vague idea of his age, and said he was a female!), he hasn't grown since we got him in September if that helps! He has been well socialised with other ducks, chickens, kittens, children and adults and will eat out of your hand but not keen on being handled. Puts himself to bed at dusk and pretty quiet. Hope this enough info, thanks.

i will be very pleased to offer a good home to a cherry valley drake. I have some rare buff orpington ducks that will be pleased to have a new friend and I hope to bring in one or two cherry vally ducks soon as my wife loves duck eggs and my children would love the little ducklings. I can collect. Regards Roger.

Thanks for replying Roger, please send me a PM with your phone number and I will be in touch. Collection Fri-Sun will be ideal or us if it will suit you too.

Sorry to appear ignorant - I'm fairly new to duck keeping - but what is a cherry valley duck? I can't find it under breeds and googling it brings up restaurants!!! There is a notice in my local feed store for them - selling at £18.

Can someone enlighten me please - maybe a photo?

Thanks
Katya

Cherry Valley ducks were originally a commercial duck, although medium sized used for both meat and eggs. A lovely natured duck which would make a good pet and will lay plenty of lovely eggs!

He is white with an orange beak and feet, looks similar to an Aylesbury. He is currently sliding around in the slow having a great time! :-)10
