Droopy has what I think a lump in / at her crop...
She has been great, but she never seems to put on weight, she is still super skinny where as the others are starting to bulk out a bit now.
She didn't come out yesterday, didn't think much of it as its gone cold here, so gave her some foon in the coop.
However she's not come out today either, I had a feel of her crop, and apart from a few gritty bits there was very little in it, then......... it felt like a rubbery mass, about the size of a small bouncy ball....
She's still bright enough and has decided to have a snack as I am typing this, has anyone ever heard of a tumour-esque thing in a chooks crop??
I will be taking her to the vet, but I wanted to run this by you lot first...........
Thanks muchly A x

Hi Aileen. I wonder if it is a crunched up feather or something? Good luck at the vets with Droopy.

Any news on Droopy Aileen? Did the vet find out what the lump was?

Unlikely to be a tumour inside her crop that large as the crop is simply a bag and not very vascular. Maybe if the lump is malleable some sort of impaction has developed?

This time of year grass becomes quite fibrous and coarse and can turn into quite a hard ball if not digested. A vet will be able to advise, let us know how you get on and good luck with her :-)17

you can still get tissue masses as there is lymphocyte tissue(it has glands), like polyps that cause obstruction. the crop(ingluvies) is a glandular mucous membrane if i recall, that excretes mucous to prepare the food for the digestive system. so there is a porous environment and tissue that can become blocked or diseased. this is how I understood it, i could be wrong! :?

She's on anti-bio's.. vet says it feels more like a cist-esque thing resulting from her sour crop a few weeks back, there's definitely a lump but without turning her inside out to ascertain exactly what it is its very hard to tell.
Same as usual, keep an eye on eye and come straight back if she looks like she's failing at all.....
Bloomin Droopy, she's gonna give me my first grey hairI tell you!! Her new thing is lifting her wings ever so slightly so I can tickle undeneath them ...... she's a fruit loop honestly but she's great x
