New article on Poultrykeeper by Zoe Brodie-Jones (dorsetduckowner.)

I've never encountered foie gras, not that I would ever want to eat it, but this article really tells a sorry story. Is it common in Gascony, Chris?

It's common everywhere in France Marigold, but on a small domestic scale they don't use cages as depicted. The ducks or geese are transferred from one pen to another individually, passing the crammer on the way. We looked at a house with the setup still in place.

Someone was prosecuted recently for keeping ducks in the conditions shown. I don't think in reality it is like the article suggests, although it may have been years ago.

We don't buy foie gras, but it is a real speciality here and will never be stopped. We still have bullfighting down here after all.
