Have (attempted) to worm my 3 girls this week. Mixed up a 2 kilo tub with the flubenvet. In the tub I used there was a very small bit, about a tablespoon of mixed corn left in the bottom so I just mixed that in with the pellets at the end as it was there. So far so good. I filled their feeder with the treated pellets, nearly took all the 2 kilo, but when I came home that evening the little 'rascals' :-)07 had obviously been searching for this corn & managed to flip out the pellets with their beaks & almost empty the feeder onto the ground! To say I was not best pleased would be understatement!
Anyway, swept up the scattered pellets as best I could & started again with a new lot but it was impossible to get all the pellets up off the ground without literally hand picking pellet by pellet! So this is my dilemma, the feeder isn't going down as much as I would normally expect, have assumed they've been pecking the stray ones (there were quite a lot) from the ground but can't guarantee. Have kept them enclosed during this time so they should be hungry enough to eat only pellets.

Should I give them the treated pellets for an extra day or two to make sure they've had enough?

Any suggestions /advice appreciated.

We've made the same mistake with corn in the feeder Lucylou.

I'd give them an extra day, just to be sure. In fact we usually make them empty the feeder anyway and give ours an extra day that way. They often starve themselves for a day with coated pellets I've noticed, but not with the Marriages Flubenvet premix.

That's interesting Chris, they definitely haven't been eating much & I was starting to worry about them wondering what was going on. I was assuming they were eating the scattered ones but maybe not. Hadn't thought about the fact they might not like the coated pellets as the ratio is actually quite small but them thats chooks for you!!
