yiipppppppppppeee i have an inccy well ok borrowed of a friend { omg only £200 worth thats a lot for him to spend } its a suro king 20 rcom digital one and it does everything but what about the adding water :-)05 :-)05 at the mo i am testing it and its set to 37.8 c to see if it stays at temp and i cant remeber what the humditiy is as its downstairs and i am up but i have been reading the terry bebee hatching and rearing book and he says dont add water until day 15 is this correct ??? i do have some quail eggs that can go in over the next few days but i am debating on hatching quail or doing dutch millifluer bantams or millifluer pekin bantams { cant make my mind up } yikks cant mess this up can i surely not :-)05 ;) .

and appartently you use a jar for the water to stay in which travels up a tube but does that have to be cold water or warm water an i suppose i have to keep that topped right up ??
at the mo its sitting on a windowseal in the back room which is right next to the back door so it will need to be moved when i am ready i was going to keep it in my room but the buzzing would drive me mental

Hi, Lucky you, the incubator you have is great. I would add warm water, it will rest to room temperature anyway. As your incubator is digital it should regulate its own humidity which should be around 35 and 55 on the last 3 days. keep the water topped up and it will take what it needs.
I would start with bantams, they are slightly larger and hardier when they hatch, so ideal for first timers. I have hatched dutch and pekins and found they are both fairly easy to rear.
Keeping your incubator in the house is a good idea, keep it away from fluctuating temperatures and drafts. ie not the window sill or back door... lol!!!
Let us know how you go, we'll be waiting!

i wont be getting any eggs until during next week or the week after unless i can get a friend to order them for me , i think i will give the quails a miss and settle on millifluer dutch bantams :D i will have to maybe look at keeping in it my room an bare the noise as its about the most suitable place for it will just have to find somewhere else for my cactis

With the king suro, you will need a large jam jar, keep the lid on but insert a hole in the top to fit the tubing. Fill the jam jar about half full with water. This is now your reservoir. One end of the tubing inserts into the jam jar and down into the water. The other end is connected to the little pump that should have come with the incubator. The other end of the tubing goes from the pump into the incubator and drips onto a folded piece of absorbent card folded length wise into a "v". This card should also be supplied with your incubator.

The Suro automatically regulates the humidity so set it to whatever you want the incubator to run for, probably 35% will be fine. When the eggs start "pipping" you can increase the humidity on the control panel of the Suro to 60%. Then pump will then add water from the jar until it reaches that humidity level.

Don't worry to much about water temp, just cool water from the tap into the jam jar will be fine.

Good luck! :D

It takes absolutely ages for the pump to receive the water and pass it into the incubator Karminski. I took the feed end off the pump and sucked the water up from the storage vessel (beer bottle in our case). It was still a couple of hours before the water finally got to the incubator.

Needs to be run in a warm room with no draughts. Instructions say 20 degrees minimum. We ran ours in 12 degrees (didn't read the very small print) and the hatch was two days late.

i wont be setting up until at least sunday evening as i am hoping my friend will order my eggs for me tonight so they wont be in until at least tuesday wendesday .
i played around with it last night and i set the temp to 37.8 and the humidity showed over 60% i think so still working out how to set the humidity :-)05 i dont have an manaul with it so for me that doesnt help but if i get on with it then i might treat myself for next year once all other projects are dealt with as i will be debt free in just over 31 days :D :D :D :D
 i might need more then luck

ohh you are wonderfull thankyou and physic as i was only thinking about doing that when i was at work today   freaky

have just set up inccy as eggs should arrive tomorrow and i followed the video on pandp website on setting it up , the temp is at 37.5 but going up and down the humidity is reading 24 but if i press ok it says 45 % :-)05 :-)05 thing is the pump is going round { not all the time } but the tube is dry and so is the sponge inside the inccy whats wrong or does it takes ages to get damp i have the jar lower the the inccy as said in the video i dont want this going wrong :o

It maybe the tubing is round the wrong way...when you press "OK" on the incubator this is showing the default setting. What you are readlng as 24% is the current humidity. The pump should not be running constantly. Check also for air bubbles in tubing.

The pump should do a rotation every 10 seconds or so Karminski. Otherwise it floods the incubator every time the humidity needs increasing. As I said in my earlier post it takes AGES to get the water through. But to speed the water through the system you can manually increase the pump to maximum (tiny electrical screwdiver required) and then back to the correct setting. It only takes about 20 minutes then.

will do that after dinner :D but i cant remeber what my friend said about the tube being stuck into the sponge or not and as the vid was playing the dogs decided to let rip and i missed that part i just know this is going to go pear shaped
