After looking on here and on the internet how to dispatch a chicken in the fastest and most humane way, we decided to kill all our three cockerels by dislocating their necks as described on here and it went better then expected. It was swift and non bloody.

The feathers came off really fast by dipping them in scalding water and gutting was done easily, too.

This was our first ever dispatch day and we were glad it all went smoothly...phew!

What are your methods of dispatching and your methods of plucking, etc? we would be interested to find out other ways as we raise our chickens for both the meat and the eggs. :)

Same as you describe. Well done, I hope you enjoy them.

Well done! :-)17 It is always nerve wrecking the first time. You seem to have go the hang of it though!
We use the broomstick method, although not a broomstick but a length of squared off hard wood. This is aways done at night when the birds are calm. We don't use the scalding method as husband can pluck really quickly. We pluck straight away then hang for a couple of days to tenderise the meat.

can someone guide me to where it says how to do this, please?
thanks.
