My bantam RIR cockerel is very aggressive towards people and even has a go at me on occasions. Is it possible to cut or remove his spurs? No chicken friendly vet available. he is called Tikka as my family all believe that is the only solution but I cannot part with him. He has 8 girls to keep him more than occupied but he still has the energy for a fight!

You can trim the spurs and or file them to make them more rounded but you can't cut them right off as there will be too much blood loss.

As Chuck says Cherrycoop. We use a fine toothed junior hacksaw blade then an emery nail file. The spurs are hard like ivory and contain blood vessels almost to the end -shine a torch light through them to see. There are some daft ideas on the internet about spur trimming. The daftest involves a hot potato!
