Just wondered what colour eyes most chickens have. Our hybrids have lovely amber colour eyes but our young rescued broilers have blue eyes. Will they change colour as they get older?
Also even though they are only 2 months old they have thicker legs than our older 2. What breed or type are chicks reared to be broilers usually?
This may be a daft question but will the rescued ones be girls? Was on the verge of nodding of to sleep last night when that question popped in my head & kept me awake for a while pondering! /color]

Hello, eye colour is all down to genetics- they can have many different coloured eyes- there eyes will not change colour.
Broilers are very fast growing big birds- they can get too big for their legs to support them. They are bred to mature very quickly . There are lots of different breeds of broiler chickens- Ross cobbs,Mastergris and Hubbards to name a few. They may be hens or cockerels.

Thanks for such a speedy reply David!
Will the broilers (if they are hens) eventually start to lay eggs?
