i have not long started with hens although i have had a few in the past purely for our own pleasure and for the eggs. i now have 23 hens and 2 cockerels. they have full range of as much land as they want over our smallholding and the neighbours.they must be very happy as yesterday i got 20eggs and today 18. when i had extra eggs in the past i was able to sell some at my work but now that i have retired that outlet has ceased. any suggestions as how to market my eggs would be much appreciated

Can you sell any 'at the farm gate' as it were to passing trade? Once people get to know, they will usually stop...

You can't really sell into a shop or restaurant etc as the rules don't allow it unfortunately, only direct to the consumer...

i found a honesty box was the easiest solution.. i would leave two six packs out each morning.. occasionally they would be taken without payment.. but mostly people were fair.. once people got used to accepting that it was first come first served that is.. i would sometimes turn up to find a small queue  .. i only stopped when some pillock took not only the eggs... but the display cabinet as well.. but shall start again when i build a new one...

thank you both for your replies. farm gate would be the answer but my husband feels that as our driveway is fairly near a corner on a b listed road that there might be an accident. does one need approval from any of the authorities?
any more info much appreciated

To sell your eggs from your home/door or from a market place you do not need permission from anywhere, only if you're planning on supplying shops/restaurants/cafe's ets do you need a licence from defra.
