Hi there everyone,

I have a question :D ? I have 2 females ducks one is a Indian Runner and the other one is a Harlequin duck.
The prolbem is one of them or both are lying their eggs in the water, that would be the edge of my pond.
So I have to go hunting for eggs and going into the water to fetch them out :D. So my question is, how do I stop this? they have a really nice duck house, that fits all four of them the two drakes and the two ducks.

Thank's y'all for the help ~Debbie

What time are you letting them out? If you leave them in the hut a while longer in the mornng they may get into the habit. Nce deep straw will help too, mine love to dig deep nests and then plop their egg in them :D

Howdy,

Some ducks, geese, and grebes build Floating Platform Nests.
That could explain why your ducks lay eggs near the water.

Hiya :)

it is likely that they are getting harassed by the drakes in their house so they don't lay in there, then the eggs just pop out once they are out and about. This happens quite often with mine, I find about 16 eggs in the pond when I clean it out every couple of months.

Do they have a quiet nest box area in the house, and what time do you let them out? They like a secluded nest area filled with straw as Foxy said, especially if drakes are in the house with them. Hormones are running wild at the moment!!!
