I was just browsing the net (as you do) and came across discussions of how a hen stands when laying an egg. It occurred to me that headroom may be important in a nest box so a hen can stand upright. My nest boxes have a fairly low sloping roof and I've seen them standing but bent over. I assumed that was a natural stance but maybe not. I could move the nests forward, they're basically under the eves of the coop.

If they have been using the nest boxes for the the last 18 months then leave it alone Rick, if they weren't happy laying there then they would lay somewhere else, like in the house itself.

Thank you for your contribution Rahim.
