Hi there everyone, think i'm going to be posting alot tonight with all the questions that are running through my mind with being a beginner

I ordered sawdust from the only island supplier and requested dust free as i had read it was the best to go for. But they didn't bring me the dust free stuff for my girls, will this be okay to use? :?

Thanks Kim

Hello Kim, is it "sawdust" or wood shavings? Wood shavings are better if you can get them- "dust free" ones - if not i would try ordinary wood shavings rather than sawdust- as it can be very fine and can cause breathing problems if too dusty.
regards, David :)

Where are you? You might be able to get bales of chopped cardboard delivered by post?

I have just had two bales of Finacard delivered to try out. There is also Ecopetbed that I have used.

Both are dust free and work well for bedding - they compost down really well too compared to the wood shavings.

Tim

Hi David, it's wood shavings i think i would need to go and check. Thanks for the advice. Can get bags of wood shavings i think at the local sawmill over here, wil give it a try this weekend if i'm in.

Cheers Kim

Hi Tim,

I'm over on the Isle of Arran, is there a specific website or dealer that you know of that would be worth trying for the chopped cardboard.

Will have a wee browse on tinterweb whilst i'm on about the Fincard and the Ecopetbed.

Thanks Tim

Yes, if you click on the Ecopetbed or Finacard links in my message, it should take you to their respective web sites. I'm not sure if the postage is different to get it to you but it would be worth finding out if you can mail order it. There is no dust whatsoever from chopped cardboard.

Hi Tim, went on and had a look at them both, quite an impressive website and they sell the feeders and drinkers that we bought from ebay where we paid more than what they would have charged for the exact same ones!

Will email them to find out the carriage costs for sending stuff over here.

Cheers for the pointers,

Kim

Great, glad you've found them. 'Earthly Ian' (Earthly Enterprises) is a member of the forum and drops in from time to time and is a sponsor of the pk site and forum which is what keeps it free for us all!

Good Luck, Tim

Email or PM me about delivery to the Isle of Arran.

Some Couriers get frightened about crossing water! Others less so.

We have a selection of options depending on what you want and how much it weighs, but too many for our website to calculate so it best for me to do the calculations manually.

Many thanks..Ian
