I want to get 2 ducks for the garden, will they eat my mums plants

they will eat every thing. my garden is void of any plants now but il forgive them that

Hi welcome to the forum!! :D :-)99 :-)99 :-)99 :-)99 :-)99 .
It depends what type of ducks you would get and also if you just want to keep them in the garden or in a pond as well. If you grow pond weed on your pond (also called duckweed) the ducks would be distracted from the garden plants (at least while the pondweed lasts !!!)
It grows very fast so you could put a container of it into a light, sunny spot away from the ducks and let it grow there and top up the stuff on the pond, but ultimately, yes, if you let them, they will eat your mums plants!!!

ooh i think might get some of that, iv not got a pond but a paddling pool really need a pond as got too many for my paddling pool now. i give the chickens carrot cabbage and sweetcorn but the ducks have hard time with that
my garden is totally void of green to and he neighbours but thats the chickens

Hope this helps, hope you can find some. It can be found growing on wild ponds or I guess you can probably get some from a fellow duck keeper. Here is a pic http://www.mobot.org/jwcross/duckweed/duckweed.htm

we used to have tha in our pond all te time it grows mad i can get little bit from the pond down the road and put it in tank to get it going

Hi duckman,
Maybe if you grow some pndweed and get a paddling pool and stuff it with pondweed, your mum might just agree to getting the ducks.

Ducks don't really eat the plants - it's the dabbling in the ground where there's water and soil = mud!

I have a hard standing area for the very wet days of winter so they are kept in then. You ideally need some hardstanding around ponds to stop the mud and a way of emptying them. Some use heavy duty pumps, some a drain. The most popular are movable tubs that can be emptied and moved around daily.
