I have 3 campbell ducks. 2 white and 1 khaki. They are all still laying. The white ones normally stop about 20th August. Anyone else get this?

Hi! Yep! Pretty normal with the breeds that are bred for continuous laying. Watch out for issues with their reproductive system as they can suffer quite badly when they don’t get a break. Hopefully they should stop when they molt (but they don’t always molt) ?

I think the whites are taking the cue from the khaki campbell. The problem is that her egg shells are particularly soft and thin. The whites didn't start laying till mid march this year, and they will eventually stop. I don't think I would get another Khaki Campbell. I am quite keen on getting a couple of welsh harlequins if I am get down to 2 again.

Yes the soft shells are a worry and could indicate an underlying infection. I have had so many problems with my white and KC girls, it breaks my heart. I have found that the rare breeds are best for only laying seasonally, my Buff Orpington’s never have issues and they are ten years old now... although two have changed sex now! I can highly recommend them. Sweetest nature too.
They laying season has been all over the place this year with the weird weather!
