Hi All!
My broody hen has successfully hatched one of the three duck eggs she has sat on (still waiting for the other two) and I have put her into a different pen to the hens and ducks. But I have two questions which I hope someone can help with?
1) When should I separate the ducklings from the hen (or should I?)
2) How and when should I introduce the ducklings to the other ducks (one male one female) and other hens? They are all totally free range during the day and live amicably together but with only one pond the ducklings are bound to come into contact with their aggressive father!
Thanks for your help!

Hi, It's up to you wether you separate ducklings from the hen, personally i would set them up with a brooder under a lamp, and I wouldn't introduce them to drake or other ducks or chickens until theyre big enough stick up for themselves, hope theyre getting on well!

Hi Melanie. We have been thinking of putting duck eggs under one of our broodys. Can I ask you a few questions as you have been successful. Did you only put duck eggs under her or did you put hens eggs as well? Did you spray the eggs to increase the humidity or just leave then hen to it and hope for the best? Well done, Carolyn
