Does anyone have much experience in treating a duck with a prolapse?

I have an 8 month only white campbell duck who has had a prolapse. She has been laying for nearly 2 and a half months now without any problems, until last weekend. I cleaned her and used KY jelly to put her poor bits back in, and she seemed fine for a day and a half - until she tried to lay an egg again. I came out to find her shaking with her feathers puffed out, it was awful. After she had laid the egg she seemed fine again, although I had to sort her out again. Since then her cloaca keeps popping out, and I have been cleaning her and putting it back in.

I have ready that this can be due to a lack of calcium. She is fed layers pellets, mashed potatoes and layers mash. She also has access to shell sand, which the rest of the ducks eat in abundance, although I cannot say I have noticed her eating it. They are free range ducks and go everywhere and anywhere, so get plenty of natural food stuffs.

Meanwhile I have called the vet who is coming to take a look tomorrow, but I don't want to give up on her, and wondered if anyone had any other suggestions? I took advice from a friend who had had this problem and they resolved it by holding the duck upside down everytime it happened. I have done this and it did seem to work for a while - until she laid the egg. I wasn't sure if it would maybe be harming her either.

Hope someone can offer some advice? :(
