Hi
We recently acquired some ducks, sadly one of them arrived with a sinus infection and a few of the others developed it shortly after. The ducks have now gone back to the breeder.
We are unsure whether there is a specific disinfectant that we should use to clean their house and caged area, before we get some more ducks.
Having experienced this infection for the first time, we really don't want our potential new ducks to pick it up or the wild ducks, geese and swans, that come into the basin.
We are based on a canal, therefore don't want to contaminate the water or kill the fish, so if there is a aquatic friendly disinfectant out there, it would be great to know.
Thanks

Hi,

I understand about trying to disinfect in a relatively safe manner. Have you considered vinegar? I use it to do a lot of cleaning... especially the bathroom. I figure if its safe enough to eat, its safe enough to clean with. Start with diluting it in a spray bottle 50% water 50% white (preferably) vinegar. It can be wiped off, if the area allows for that, or left to dry on its own. Hope that helps.
