One of our Khaki Campbells always seems to lay her egg outside of the house, and makes quite a noise when laying it and runs away from it as soon as she's laid it (as though she's frightened of it). On going out to see what is happening, the egg is usually normal in size, but is usually smeared with fresh blood. The other ducks eggs never have blood on them. Once she has run back to join the other ducks, I can't tell her apart, so I'm always assuming it's the same duck as the others lay their eggs in the house.
Is this something to be worried about? I wondered if she was just a bit small/tight inside the vent area and was splitting on laying the egg (like childbirth)!!
thanks for any thoughts on this. :-)11

I dont know much about ducks, but could it be that a blood vessel ruptures as the egg passes out of her vent? Or, maybe her vent is tight and does bleed slightly from streching as the egg passes through.

I would take her to the vet as soon as you can or this make escalate to a more serious problem.
