Do you think they are boys or girls?!

Evening all :D

Well the youngest chicks are now hitting 3 weeks and are noticably different from each other. I'm totally in love and completely fascinated by them. The hybrids which are about 5 weeks now are very friendly and love to sit on your arm and are keen to get out as soon as the door is open. They are funny little things and make such adorable noises. The Buff Orp makes a very unique noise compared to the others, though is probably the most shy of the lot, but is one of my favs so I'm really really hoping she is def a girlie! I'm amazed every day at how different they are, at what new feathers they have grown overnight and how much more forward they are.

These are the peks, what do you reckon on sex - boys or girls?

NOOOO!!! :o :(

I thought Lola was a boy, she's now been named Larry. I'm totally gutted as right from the start I said I wanted a Lavendar Pekin Bantam, and now it seems not to be! I wasn't 100% on Ebony though, but her comb, sorry his, is def bigger than Lucy Lou's.

The other half is tempted to keep Larry, but how much noise does this sort of breed make? He reckons as Larry will only be a small cockerel he wont make too much noise, I'm not so sure though.

I might go back to the breeder and see if she has an older Lavendar already sexed that we could have, do you think it would be ok adding to the group after they've all been together for a few weeks?

Hi, that's just my opinion and i have been wrong before! Just had years of pratice- but still get the odd one wrong- especially with my silkies  Cockerels all make different amounts of noise-sometimes the little ones can be worse than the big breeds- everyone is different- if you have bad neighbours who are likely to complain then i wouldn't keep one- i have 16 at the moment- they start about 4am
I only have one near neighbour and they are fine with it :D
regards, David :)

We live in a terraced block so have a lot of very close nit gardens, plus the ones at the bottom of the garden. I dont think it will be feasible to be honest but I may well give it a go. I was thinking of popping a note through everyone's doors that are fairly close and asking them to let us know if its a problem for them, but we'll see.

I'm going to take some pics of the blue orpington bantam tonight and post them to see what you think. I'm not sure when is a good age to sex this breed though.

Thanks for your help, Ria :D
