Evenin, I've been ttrying to pottering about trying to find the best way to undo the latch on my run door to let my girls out as it's dark when wifey leaves for work and not wanting to spend over £100 for a pop hole opener .

This is where I'm up to currently. This is a mock up to see if the principal worked and it appears to.

Some dental floss and a £6 2rpm disco ball motor thus far just need to water proof it all and use something a little better like strong fishing line and add a timer plug to run for one minute.

I'm afraid the link wouldn't work for me Bickerton, I'm intrigued by the idea of a disco ball motor!

That looks very interesting. Not being mechanically minded, though, and having no idea what a disco ball motor can do, I think it must work by magic. Nicely- hung door, though, to swing open like that.

Great idea Bickerton, as long as someone is back before dusk to get them in and lock them up. Two of our three fox strikes were at dusk just minutes before we locked them up, the other was in the afternoon.

Yup, home by 3 every day generally. Garden is fairly secure, 6/7ft all round.

You have me thinking now.... Maybe I can also get it to close the door too...

I know what I'm doing on my day off

Hmmmm,, if I used it to pull a pin from a latch it could then once stopped, continue at a later time to pull it closed again as the door only needs to open like 8"

I've since fettled it a little and it's now waterproof and tested and seem to work as required. Thisweek will be the test
