Hi.
I have a chicken, ex barn, since we have had her about 4 months, she has had a dirty vent.
I have kept cleaning her up as when she arrived what was left of her feathers was covered in solid dried matter. I have used a mite powder.
Now she is cleaner her vent runs and drips clear fluid from the feathers, if this dries on her it is white in colour. She has had a dose of worming powder. She lays ok and seems normal in any other respect.
Any help would be appreciated.
Trevor.

Sounds like she is dripping urine. Are her poos normal with a partial white coating on them (which is the urine) or are they just solid uniform colour? Have never seen this myself, but perhaps it is a form of chicken incontinence? Although having said that some of our hens get a limescale urine smelling white coating on the feathers below their vet sometimes, which is quite difficult to get off as it doesn't dissolve easily. The Orpingtons with fluffy bottoms are worst but we have a Black Rock that gets it regularly too.
