And nothing!

Am I just being impatient??

I thought I would have seen some signs of hatching by now

Someone told me if u listen u can hear chicks inside the eggs... is this right, if so can u hear with the "naked" ear or do u need a microphone??

How long do I leave it before giving up? All candled normally day 18.

Thanks

Lauren

Hi gloucesterchick.

Be patient.

Yes, the chicks will often cheap a little before hatching but this may not happen or you may not have heard it.

The main thing is don't remove the lid, keep 60% or more humidity to get the shells soft.

You may have chicks in the morning, or see pips in a few eggs. They can take a while to hatch.

If they are late, the incubator temperature may be a little low but I would see how late first before making adjustments.

Let us know what happens!

The temperature is running at just over 100F.

I have sprayed the eggs with water and keeping the tray at the bottom of the incubator filled up.

I havent heard anything coming from the eggs

I have a question and this may be silly but this is my first hatching, will the chick pip from the "top", the side of the egg facing upwards? So I would always see the break in the egg?

Thanks

Hi Lauren,

The chick will first break through into the air-sack which is at the broad end of the egg - then will break the outer shell around the edge of the egg at the broad end....

Ok cool that helps.

Just worried that somethng has gone horribly wrong. are they more likely to hatch at nighttime?

thanks

Yes there is a possibility they are 'dead in shell' or maybe they are just fine...

There's not a lot you can do except wait now though...

It's frustrating for sure :(
