curly feathers

A number of my birds' feathers have gone curly around the neck this year. Not sure if its due to the hot weather we had or perhaps a trace element deficiency or some other cause. The hens are all well. Has anyone else had the same?

We've had this with our old Wyandottes Chickenfan and put it down to genetics. We had one two years ago who developed frizzle feathering on the neck which got worse last year and this year has them all over- the others now have developed curled feathers on their necks. None of the other birds have them and they are all on the same diet. Strangely she has also developed curled leg scales which we first thought was scaly leg mites- she looks a real mess but is still happy and laying the occasional egg.
