Hi again all!
I hope you have had a good festive season? Everyone has given my girls sprout peelings for Christmas but they don't like them! Do I need to boil veggies first, my lot seem reluctant to scoff any type of them!

Also, Dad was on about when HIS Dad kept chickens during the war and used to boil up crowdy for them. Dad would love to know what that was and if that is a local term to the Middlesbrough area? I wondered if it was mash??

Thanks again!
Lemmy

Do you mean Crowdie Lemmy? This is a sort of cottage cheese, well soured curdled milk common in rationing times for fattening up chickens for the pot I believe! :D

Hi, crowdy or crowdie :-)07 is just boiled up veg peelings and layers meal made up to a mash - try not to make it too wet- your hens will love it in the cold weather especially if it is warm. Hope this helps :)
regards, David :)

Hi David!

Dad is over the moon with the reply!!

Now, can I smash up layers pellets to act as the meal or is the meal something different??

Thanks!
K
PS The girls are growing well, tails all pointing skywards this week, seems to be the latest in their development stage...not expecting eggs til spring I guess?
