Crop query

I have a five year old bantam Wyandotte. At bedtime her crop is huge,so large you would think that she is going to fall on her face.
In the morning when I feel her crop it is empty but still looks very big and flops about when she walks. She hasn't got an impacted or sour crop just a large empty bag.Should I be worried or is this just one of those things?
She eats very well,poops are normal and she lays quite well.

Provided the crop is emptying overnight I wouldn't be too worried, it's probably just one of those age related things I would say, sounds like she has stretched out her crop over time.

We had a girl that had a very stretchy floppy crop in the mornings, never bothered her she was a good layer tough as old boots and lived until she was 7

By contrast, my neighbour has a young hybrid, going through her first moult and she (hen, not neighbour!) has a pendulous crop. I don't think there's been a history of sour crop or impacted crop.

The hen was seen by a vet yesterday (who, I'm told, 'specialises in poultry' and has suggested to try a crop bra first rather than use meds to tighten the muscle up. The vet said she has had some success with crop bras on other birds and she thinks it's worth a try.

Anybody else had experience of crop bras? Or meds to tighten up a crop? Just curious ........

PS Poachedegg, thanks for your earlier kind post about my more relaxed way of dealing with broodies. Glad you've had some success. I've just had my fifth case this year and dealt with them in the same way.
 
A crop bra ? I can imagine Lady Bracknell saying that. That's a new one for me
We had a girl with a saggy crop in the mornings, it worried us more than her, and she lived a long, happy and bossy life. Like us humans it all goes south after a while.
 
Sorry to butt in on the crop/bra postings, one of my Pekins is like that, she wobbles with a fat empty crop, but the dealing with the broody hen bit interested me.

One of my last year's Croads is persistently and constantly broody and snappy, she does not have any eggs, has not laid for months and has had her looks spoiled totally by being pecked and attacked for being always occupying the favourite nest box.

Her comb is totally scabbed and scarred and spoiled far back on her head.

Does someone have the cure for a broody? I have even thought I would do the cold water dousing bit on the bum, but never have. Any suggestions would be very welcome.
 
Sad to say I have now lost my saggy hen,not with her crop problem but with EYP,so never did get to fit her with a DD bra !
Can't quite believe how quickly she went down hill,
