Hi, this is a carry on of an old topic but i thought it might be interesting.
I contacted Jeyes about there product and its suitablility for chickens. This is what they said
The Jeyes Fluid can be used, as directed on the tins (at a dilution of 65ml Jeyes Fluid per 5 litres of water) & the premises must be dried & well ventilated before bedding & animals are returned. The product is harmful to any animal if they come into contact with it when wet, once the area is dry it is safe for animals to use the area once more.
In terms of ventilation, we would recommend that bedding/animals should not be reintroduced until the smell has gone. If the area becomes wet again (if it rains soon after it has been used & dried off)you may be able to smell the Jeyes Fluid again, if this happens, you would need to keep the animals out of the area until it is dried & the smell has gone.
We would not recommend that you use the Jeyes Fluid on any soil or wooden parts of the run as it will be held within them & if the chickens peck at the soil/wood there is a risk they may ingest the solution as it takes 6 weeks to break down within the soil, whereas if it soaks into wood, it will be held inside of it.
Kind regards
So i reckon the answer is no..its not safe and as Marigold pointed out there are better products that are safe, hope this helps
