Confused by the animation

I am a bit confused by the animation at the left side of each subject entry, and tried to find out what they mean.
I tried to,find info in one of the new member read this bits but cant find anything
Its the small circle with lines in or a star.
Its either red or grey.
And sometimes it looks like the lines are rising.
Could someone tell me what they mean please.
Is there a list somewhere with the meanings.

Well you obviously have a more inquiring mind than me belleisa, I've been on here for nearly six years and hadn't paid them any attention. Looking at it now though, if you hold the mouse tip over the icon then it brings up an explanation for some symbols. No unread posts for the grey with lines, unread posts for the red with lines, exclamation mark is pinned topic, arrow is moved topic, not sure what the star means though. Sure Marigold will be along to shed some light on it.
 
Im not getting any info by hovering with the mouse on my computer. What has always puzzled me is the scrolling text one that appears in various seemingly random places. Yes, unread one are defiantly red as they are all red in the unread messages section...

How long are you leaving it to hover Rick, it takes a few seconds to come up.

I've just realised that a star in the right hand corner of the lines is a topic that you have posted on.
 
Aha i see.
I guess the problem is, i am using an ipad so cant hover a curser over it.
So i had better go to my laptop and see what it says for myself.
Thank you very much for letting me know.
I had a few issues also earlier in posting replies but i think i have now solved that.

My next question is how can i make pictures small enough to share as i tend to use my iphone to take pocs with but
They are always of a higher pixel rate.
Is there an app or programme that will do this for me ?
 
You could try the Tapatalk app for phones, it's really easy to post photos from there, and you can get the forum on the go as well. Or try emailing the pic to yourself, which should ask you to reduce the size to Medium as an option, and then save this version and use it to post using the normal forum software. Haven't used an iPad for a good while, but if it works like a Mac then this should do the trick.

Is the star for topics that you have bookmarked or subscribed to so you get notified of replies, maybe?

On here, if you'd like to subscribe to a particular topic and be sent emails when a new post is made, you can go to your User Control Panel (second line down at the top of the page, above the Board Index line) then click on Manage Subscriptions, and click on any threads you want to follow up on.
