A little question from a newbee I have recentley aquired four Wyndotte bantams 2 Blue Laced and 2 Buff laced these were planned, then as usual while aquiring these there crept in the old impulse buy! I fell for and bought a Millefluer Pekin, she is about 18 weeks old, at the time of purchase the vendor did say that these hens change coloure as the mature , this comment did not sink in at the time and i was just wondering if this is indeed the case, any info would be apreciated.

Yes there are some colour patterns that do change slightly as they mature, particularly those with a spangled type feather pattern such as mille the white becomes more prominent. So the overall look may be slightly lighter.

Millefeur Pekins, unlike other Millefleur coloured breeds, often show a Great deal of White in their very first plumage , and only achieve their true colours in their first adult feather. After their first year, they do tend to moult into ever increasingly whiter feather, as foxy suggests.

Thank you foxy and lordcluck for your replies very interesting.
