ok friends first real panic, warren chick raised from a three day old has a hard extended abdomen, head shacking, wings out and down white diahorea with green bits but still feeding. A bit unsteady on her feet have ordered some Coccidiosis mediceine from teh web, nearly killed her this morning out because i didnt want her to suffer, help please ( no crass or stupid remarks please i am a serious keeper of animals)

Hi Scuffer-----how old is your chick? General support stuff that I'd carry out--isolate,warmth,fluids orally by syringe if not drinking. If treating specifically for coccy then start it straight away . If you decide on the vet route I can highly recommend one within your reach. Will PM you vet details .Ros

alas had to despatch LuLu my affected warren on bank holiday Monday, i have never been so upset in my life

Sorry that is sad news, always tough having to dispatch the poorly ones :(

some how i managed to get cocci in a cage of 5 week old chicks  i found hunched chicks and bloody poo's, they are being treated now but i already lost 3, fingers crossed for the rest :)
sorry to hijack your thread but i didn't want to start another on the same subject

I've found than an infrared lamp, placed where they can find their own level of warmth works better than any other heat source for sick birds. Remember reading ages ago, I can't recall where, that infrared light helps because of the specific wavelength of the light. Hope your birds are better soon!
