My poland cockerel has taken to climbing a 6 foot vertical chain link fence- He scales it with his feet, like a rock climber and flaps his wings slightly for momentum - quite clever really
However, he does insist on climbing into a pen which has 3 lovely legbar ladies and one rather large cream legbar boy- so far he has managed to escape being battered but I'm sure there will come a point where the legbar has enough of the odd looking intruder! Also, if he decided to climb a different fence he'd be loose in a field and an easy target for Mr Fox.
I have tried clipping one wing- but he still managed his climbing feat. So at the moment he is in a covered run while I ask you for some ideas!
Strangely, I caught a 3 week old poland chick (Who has never even seen his father) climbing up the chicks outdoor, weld mesh run the other day- it got about a foot and a half up in just the same way as it's dad!
Hope someone has some ideas- I wouldn't mind him staying in the covered run but there's no grass in there!
