I saw one of my chooks walk backwards yesterday whilst she was eating. It was so odd & quite funny & I put it down to "one of those funny things they do!" She was walking backwards with her head arched downwards. Anyway, this morning she did the same thing again, twice.

Does anyone have experience of this? Is it anything to be worried about?

Thanks x

She's a Lt Sussex (or supposed to be) she's smaller than my other LF but hatched about the same time.

Hello, sounds like she is getting some food stuck somewhere- just keep an eye on her- what are you feeding them? layers mash?
regards, David :)

Davidd, they're on layers pellets plus a few handfuls of corn some days or scraps of fruit & veg, plus greens. They don't free range but have large enclosed run.

She was OK yesterday but I noticed she was opening her beak a little bit (like they can do sometimes with respiaratory trouble) after eating a grape I'd given her. I'm keeping a special eye on her ;)
