Chirping eggs

Hi Everyone
So excited my eggs recived from DarkBrownEggs are hatching today ,they already piping and making lovely noises .Can't wait for them to come out

I read somewhere that they pipe to each other, and to their mother if there is a broody, so they already recognise each other as a 'family' when they're born. Is that right?
A bit like unborn human babies recognising their mother's voice? (And the theme tune to Coronation St!)

We used to talk to our eggs and wait for them to talk back. Lovely experience.

Yes,I'm talking too.2 already out of the shell and calling others to follow

Also a throwback to the wild so they encourage one another to hatch at the same time so they can leave the nest together. Stragglers would quickly be left behind.

I have 5 lovely chicks;2Marans and Cream Legbar(from darkbrowneggs) and 2 from my Silvergrey Dorking and GLPF cross.Very happy

Meet my growing chicks,interesting lot.I think I have 4 boys and a girl(hoping for more).They 4 weeks now,can you belive it?The eggs from my chickens which I put in to the incy become 2 very difrent from eachother chick.! went in to the mummy genes pool and other took after dad.Have a look at the pictures

They are so beautiful. I love the pic of the two pairs of legs! It looks as if they have differently- coloured tights on, doesn't it? Legbars are so pretty when they're just growing their little hats. The one of the legbar on the edge of the table has the look of a jay about her. Isn't it amazing how fast they grow, once the feathers begin to come out of pin?

Marigold I have only 1 cream legbar and I love the little hat too.It amezes me how difrent 2 from my hen chicks looks like.Both have same parents but one got mother look and other father.I wonder if both will be cockrels or if there is a chance for a girl.Any ideas?I hope that the grey chick turn out to be girl
