both Anne and I are trialling a cheap device called a magnasexer.Basically,it's two magnets,held by a strong thin cord.You hold it over an egg,if it is a fertile egg it will swing.In a circle is a hen,to and fro in a straight line is a cock.
According to mine,my 6 serama chicks are four hens and two cocks.Hoping it's right.It will also sex new borns and adults,puppies,kittens,gerbils and humans
.The way it acts on eggs is weird,I've tried it on fertile and unfertile eggs,does seem to work.
They only cost £2.99 or £3.99 (can't remember which)on ebay.

Have got CC tv cameras everywhere and I make my family take turns in keeping surveilance day and night incase anyone tries to steal any of my babies! :shock: :lol: :lol:
The man over the road has given me some speckeldy eggs Lydia and I have run the magnasexer over them and it is definite in saying 3 boys and 2 girls . Question is do I just put the 2 so daignosed girlies in ? I only want a couple at the moment anyway as I am getting some silkie eggs tomorrow. My first lot I marked but didn't leave any out as they are special being my first lot - the magnasexer still maintains there are 4 girls and one boy. Won't it be interesting? Let me know what your results.

Hehe! No the one in the far right - near the arm of the chair. 'He' was the last to hatch and is more bantam than the others - 'he' curls up in my hand and goes to sleep bless him - with the others jumping on him and flying over the top of him. :lol:

Wouldn't it be great! All we have to do now is wait to see - won't know for sure until they either crow or lay!!
Can't help thinking that if it does work - why isn't it common knowledge? Yes Hippie Chick - same as the wedding ring on thread - you can also use a pendant on a chain - does the same thing. We will see - stranger things happen ..... I will keep an open mind

With your eggs that it says 3 boys and 2 girls,do you want any cockerels?
You could just throw the 'boy' ones away,or,incubate them for a week and then candle them,they could well be clear.If not,you've still got the option of throwing them away,but,check with the magnasexer,your wedding ring and a pendant first.
Your little girl wearing a tu-tu would love to come for a visit and a cuddle.....just for a week or two
.Yes - I think I will go with the 2 'girls' - I only want 2 anyway as I want other breeds too. I can always get some more eggs from him if they show clear when I candle so I can't lose really. Good - mind made up!
