Does anyone know whether I can feed sugarbeet of my flock.

Could I give it raw or does it need cooking. I found them in the middle of the road. Love free food.

I'd never give it raw as it will expand once it comes into contact with fluid. Have you seen how much a handful expands to when a bit of water is added? Its huge :? Can fill a bucket

I'd not give it personally. I know when we had horses my hens would wander into the stable and finish off the leftover horse feed which had a bit of beet left in it, but I never gave it to them as part of their actual diet. Someone else might say different of course

Ditto to Snifter's advice, also If it can put weight on a chook the way it does a horse I wouldn't personally use it.It doesn't have a lot of nutrional value for a chook, and, would fill them up so they didn't eat the foods they did need.Dry i'm sure it would kill a chook.Glad you asked before feeding it.
