I have a tiny feathered-leg sablepoot with completely spraddle legs born 24 hours ago. I have no vet-grip and am really struggling to get a sticking plaster on both legs. Does anyone have any tips? What position do you have the chick in? Are there any other methods with such tiny chicks. It is already on a rough surface.

Sorry Chickenfan. It's not something I have ever dealt with. We have our chicks on kitchen roll and have never had problems. Presumably you are trying to hold the legs together below the knee? I've seen the pictures on a Poultryhelp web site and they use two sticking plasters. Try googling 'chick spraddle leg' and best of luck. Have any more hatched?

I've bought some different plasters now, so will try again when she's had a sleep. Yes, this broody was not on kitchen paper. I've had one more bantam hatch in the night. Thank you for your reply.
