I have a couple of eggs that I have candled after 8 days. They look very watery inside and the fluid sort of turns with the egg as you move it. I can't see the air sac. Are these infertile, or did they start to grow and die?

Sounds like they are infertile. What do the others look like? You could possibly see blood vessels at this stage. I don't normally candle until 10 days.

Do you think infertile or died? The infertile ones seem to just remain clear, but these have a watery line that moves as I tilt the egg. I'm always curious to know what went wrong.

The watery line sounds like the inner membrane Chickenfan. The air sac is on one side and the yolk and white on the other.

So if the watery line moves as you tip the egg, the air sac was damaged in the post?

The air sack shouldn't move much at all Chickenfan, but I suppose if the membrane is ruptured the egg contents can move to fill the air space. We've just candled our eggs and even when tipped on the side the air sac remains almost in the same position.

We put an egg in that was 13 days old and it appears to be developing Chickenfan. The air sacs are a bit small even though the incubator is running dry -that's a sign of how wet it has been here. We have had 10 days of rain and the ambient humidity is unusually high.
